What to Look for in a Leather Jacket

Leather/faux leather whatever you choose I want you to get the biggest bang for your buck and make a great investment in this forever classic and versatile item. I love leather. It is so chic, and if it is a bit too-too for you can always wear something trimmed in leather to embrace the look.

Here are some tips to help purchase with success.

It is hard to find a really good quality leather jacket under $200 unless it is on a SUPER SALE

Real leather wears better that faux leather-faux can crack and peel easily

Real leather conforms to your shape and will last over time. A jacket that is cut in at the waist is the most flattering

Make sure you can zip/button over bust. There may come a time when you need to keep jacket shut for warmth. If you can not zip move on to another style

If you want warmth from your jacket make sure it is lined, a removable lining is even better!

Leather can be altered! A bit expensive and find a reputable tailor

Make sure you spray your jacket with high quality leather protector. One of my favorites I used in TV is VECTRA SPRAY it repels liquids!

Black or brown leather -depending on your skin tone are the classic colors but don’t hesitate to look into a burgundy, dark green or navy this season.

You can totally dress up a simple t-shirt and jeans look with a leather jacket. If you want a bit of an edgy look -use over a dress. If you are REALLY BOLD- wear over a cocktail dress or evening gown.

A jacket that stops at hip is a very versatile look
